Through our Fresh Access program Just Harvest has been working to make area farmers markets more accommodating of the refugee and immigrant communities in Pittsburgh’s metropolitan area.
In addition to vendor recommendations about culturally specific foods to grow, we encourage the support of immigrant farming enterprises at the markets themselves.

| Beechview es feliz dar la bienvenida a Quiorz granja al nuestra mercado de jueves. Farming needs no translation…
Beechview is happy to welcome their newest vendor, Quiroz Farm, to their Pittsburgh Citiparks farmers market. Brothers Miquel and Jose Quiroz, originally from Oaxaca, Mexico, bring with them fresh vegetables and apples grown on their 14 acres of land in Salem, Ohio.
Reflecting back on 19 years, Jose speaks of his journey out of Mexico into the U.S. as a trip into a land of chance and opportunity, stating, “If you work hard the opportunities are there for you.”
Although he did not speak English when he first arrived in Ohio, Jose grew up farming and agrees that agriculture is a truly universal language.
We are very pleased to have Quiroz Farm now in attendance at the Beechview market and encourage neighbors to come out and welcome them.
