January was National Poverty Awareness Month, and today kicks off a 30-day drive tying into the other half of our mission: hunger.
Of course, poverty and hunger go hand in hand – quite the ugly pair of twins. They can be hard to look in the face, but this month’s awareness campaign will help people see past the surface.
We have a lot in store for this month: a new item every day to help get the word out about who goes hungry and why. Through video, storytelling, and the latest data we’ll be dispelling myths, delivering some hard truths, and describing solutions to hunger in our region.
Stay tuned to find out:
- what June 9 means for low-income Pittsburgh children;
- how you have the tools to help feed the hungry – in your own back yard!
- the surprising thing 15 women did when Hunger Free Colorado gave them cameras;
