After years of advocates’ efforts and a final push the past two years to pass legislation, the state’s Department of Public Welfare officially becomes Pennsylvania’s Department of Human Services today.
The department will mark the change with a ceremony at its Harrisburg offices and unveiling of its new logo.
Pennsylvania is one of the last states to drop the word welfare from the name of its human services agency as negative connotations increasingly mark the term….
