Pittsburgh expands summer meals program for children

Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto announced this morning that the city will expand its summer food program to more than 125 locations with a new initiative called GrubUp.

The GrubUp expansion aims to combat childhood hunger by establishing 20 summer food sites at new locations such as branches of the Carnegie Library. The city aims to increase daily attendance by 10 percent, from 6,946 to 7,640 children and will begin serving meals on Monday, June 15….
