More than $200,000 in welfare benefits given to dead Pennsylvanians, audit reveals

A Pennsylvania woman died two years before an unidentified welfare recipient used her Social Security number to collect $32,000 worth of public subsidies, according to a report state Auditor General Eugene DePasquale released on Tuesday.

She was among 138 deceased individuals who, on paper, appear to have received $212,000 worth of erroneous cash and food stamp benefits….
