Advocates hope updated hunger stats spur action

According the Food Research and Action Center, 21 percent of families with children in Allegheny County`s congressional districts — or about one in five families — are unable to afford enough food.

That includes 25.4 percent of families in the 14th District represented by Rep. Mike Doyle, D-Forest Hills; 22.7 percent in Rep. Mark Critz, D-Johnstown`s 12th District; 18.9 percent in the Rep. Jason Altmire, R-Bradford Woods` Fourth District; and 17.5 percent in Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair`s 18th District.
