No one’s refrigerator should be empty. Everyone deserves to eat and live in dignity.

At Just Harvest we help connect people to the government social safety net services they need.

Our free assistance programs:

  • Food Stamps Applications — We’ll help you determine whether you are eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits and can help you apply and/or find a volunteer position to meet work requirements if you are unemployed. We will also help you if you are having difficulty obtaining or maintaining your food stamp benefits with the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (formerly the Dept. of Public Welfare).
  • Welfare Advocacy — We provide info to help you navigate the welfare system. If you are applying for food stamps through us we can also help you determine your eligibility and apply for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF/cash assistance), Medical Assistance, LIHEAP, and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
  • Free Tax Preparation — At our four free income tax preparation sites, operating January through mid-April, we will help you file your tax return and maximize your refund.
  • Fresh Access — Our kiosk enables you to use your food stamps to buy fresh, nutritious food at participating farmers markets from May to November. We also provide Food Bucks, to maximize your food stamp buying power.
  • Fresh Corners — This program helps corner stores in low-income Pittsburgh neighborhoods and Allegheny County municipalities that lack a grocery store to stock several kinds of fresh fruits and vegetables, which can be purchased with food stamps.

Please contact us if you have questions about these programs, or visit each program page for more information.
