Speaking out effectively is a way to change the world. Coordinated letter writing to those in power is a proven way to make progress on critical issues. So join us for this month’s Power of the Pen.

Every month we discuss a key policy issue that’s causing hunger and economic injustice in Allegheny County. Then we write letters to government officials and newspapers, calling for change.

This month’s focus: Protect Access to SNAP!

Location: 1 Smithfield St. in downtown Pittsburgh (see map below)

A new Trump proposal would hugely increase hunger by kicking millions of Americans off food stamps – 16,000 people in Allegheny County. The rule change would also make it much harder to apply for and qualify for this critical nutrition assistance program, and would also block many low-income children from getting free school meals.

All you need to bring is a willingness to put pen to paper and share your perspective of how this would affect you or your community.

This month’s event will also function as Just Harvest’s annual meeting and will include the election of three nominees to our Board of Directors.

Just Harvest members are eligible to vote. Those wishing to become members can do so at the meeting.

A light meal will be provided starting at 6. Free parking is available in the building’s lot accessed from Fort Pitt Blvd.
