We’re looking for an outreach intern for May-August to increase participation in our programs and assist with community events. Position includes in-person work located in Allegheny County.
INTERN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with outreach events such as resource fairs, speaking gigs, and community events
- Design new and creative outreach materials such as flyers, posters, postcards, booklets, banners, and merchandise
- Promote outreach materials out in the community by taking various materials to partner organizations and local businesses
- Assist with planning, advertising, set-up, and take-down of fundraising events
- Outreach to organizations, schools, and places of worship about distributing materials, hosting a speaker, and/or coordinating services
- Conduct various outreach activities with volunteers including calls, texts, distribution of flyers, and community events
- Conduct follow-up calls with SNAP clients and become knowledgeable about the SNAP program and barriers to benefits
Time Commitment: We are seeking interns who can commit to a minimum of 10 hours per week for a 10 week period between May and August. Some weekend and evening availability is required.
Skills Required:
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Comfort talking with new people
- Strong leadership skills
- Strong computer skills
- Experience with digital design programs such as Canva and Adobe
- Familiarity with Google Suite
- Passionate about equitable food access
- Ability to work independently and comfortable working in diverse groups
Other Requirements:
- Must provide their own transportation to events in Allegheny County
- Ability to work a flexible schedule is preferred
- Access to a car
