Gov. Wolf proposes converting assistance program into housing

“Gov. Tom Wolf last week proposed two separate overhauls of assistance programs for the poorest Pennsylvanians.

One proposal would convert the General Assistance program — a monthly cash benefit of approximately $200 for extremely low-income adults — and put those funds toward a state housing assistance fund. The other would increase collaboration between agencies and “greater accountability” for programs aimed at getting people into the workforce….”
