On Monday, June 4th, our state senators and representatives return to Harrisburg, hopefully to get serious about passing a budget that puts people first by the start of the 2018-19 fiscal year on July 1st.
Just Harvest and our allies in the Pennsylvania’s Choice campaign will be there at the Capitol to encourage them to pass a responsible budget that invests in education, human services, and environmental protection, and we hope you can join us there to make sure they get the message!
Let’s be clear – much is at stake. We need a budget that avoids cuts to vital services by making sure that corporations, gas drillers, and the wealthiest Pennsylvanians start holding up their end of the bargain.
And there are those in and around the Capitol who are planning budgetary attacks on our public schools and universities, on vulnerable Pennsylvanians who receive crucial assistance from Medicaid and SNAP, and on the rights and wages of hardworking people struggling to provide for their families.
Join us at the state Capitol on Monday, June 4th, for this Budget Day of Action! Rally with allies from across Pennsylvania, and tell your senator and representative to get serious about enacting a budget that puts people first!
The schedule of the day’s events is included below, and you can register online so that we can have a boxed lunch for you during our noontime budget update and legislative briefing, along with having materials available for you to deliver to your legislators. Additionally, there are still a few seats available on buses departing from Philadelphia, Norristown, and Pittsburgh, but they are available on a first-come-first-served basis and are going quickly!
We hope to have you with us at the state Capitol on Monday!
