Letter to the Editor: Rising housing costs are a factor in hunger

“Though presidential debate moderators failed to ask a single question about it, a top issue on most voters’ minds this election season is affordable housing (according to an Ipsos Public Affairs July poll). With wages mostly stagnant while housing costs rapidly rise, millions of Americans (and 23,000 households in Pittsburgh) are paying more than half their income on housing. This is part of what’s driving hunger and poverty, particularly for children and seniors….”
