Just Harvest is providing the following information to help inform voters about the Primary Election in Allegheny County on May 16, 2023. This voter guide contains responses from candidates to two questions about their positions on food policy.
This guide does not contain the responses for all the candidates who will be on the ballot in Allegheny County. We sent questionnaires only to candidates who will have the ability to shape hunger and poverty policy in the City of Pittsburgh and Allegheny County AND who will be facing an opponent within their party in the upcoming primary election.
Therefore, this guide:
- does include the candidates for Allegheny County Executive, Allegheny County Council, Allegheny County District Attorney, and Pittsburgh City Council.
- doesn’t include the candidates for
- Supreme Court,
- Commonwealth and Superior Courts,
- Allegheny Court of Common Pleas and Allegheny Magisterial District Courts,
- Allegheny County Controller,
- Allegheny County Treasurer,
- Pittsburgh City Controller,
- Pittsburgh Public Schools District Board,
- and most of the 1,000+ other municipal and school board candidates on ballots in Allegheny County for the May 16 election.
- doesn’t include the Republican candidate for Allegheny County Executive nor the various Republican and Democratic candidates for Allegheny County Council and Pittsburgh City Council who won’t face challengers in the primary election.
