Free and discount rides to cast your ballot in Allegheny County

There are a number of options for you to safely cast your ballot this election.

If you don’t want to send your ballot through the mail but you need a ride to get to a county elections office for “over-the-counter” voting or submit your mail-in or absentee ballot, or to your polling location on Election Day (November 3), rest assured there are a number of good options.

Wondering if getting in a car with a stranger is safe during this pandemic? Here are some excellent RIDE-SHARING COVID PROTECTION GUIDELINES from B-PEP (The Black Political Empowerment Project):

  • No mask, no ride: drivers and riders should both wear a mask, securely in place.
  • Sanitize your hands upon entering the car.
  • Sit only in the backseat passenger side for maximum distance.
  • Roll down your window for maximum airflow.
  • Limit to one rider per car or three per van.

For personal safety, before getting into a car, make sure your driver has told you their name and knows your name.

4 Free and Discounted Ride Options

Check on friends/neighbors who might need a ride to the polls.  Let them know about these groups.

Some gentle reminders:  Be patient when requesting or waiting for a ride.  Don’t do anything to distract the driver during the ride.  Thank your driver.
